My hubby a.k.a my Kdrama (친수) buddy and I watch this new drama back to back with Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Having a medical background as I took BS Nursing for college, this series is relatable in many levels and super hilarious.
Starring Rain as Doctor Cha (main role) and Kim Bum as Doctor Seung tak. A fantasy and comedy series that first aired last January this year. Watch it on Viu, Netflix, Rakuten and other streaming sites.
Currently writing this while having an attack, and yes you may conclude that I’m immune to this overly sensitive nose of mine.
Not to sound pathetic, but I have been suffering from allergic rhinitis since time immemorial & somehow I got used to it. From dust to mold, even a mere lack of sleep can make me sick. Then came endometriosis, adenomyosis and so forth. I had a couple of doses of GnRH from 2020 and since then I’ve noticed changes in my overall health. My allergies became more severe and it’s so frustrating. Stomach becomes painful (aside from my poor nose) from endless sneezing. Consuming a box of kleenex in one sitting.
So I had to find ways, studied health courses online, continuously hunting for definite cure or miracle for these health issues. The following are remedies, tips and facts that may help your condition.
Allergic rhinitis, often called hay fever, is a common condition that causes symptoms such as sneezing, stuffy nose, runny nose, watery eyes and itching of the nose, eyes or the roof of the mouth.
Allergic rhinitis is an allergic reaction to tiny particles in the air called allergens. When you breathe in allergens through your nose or mouth, your body reacts by releasing a natural chemical called histamine.
Several indoor and outdoor allergens cause hay fever. Common causes include dust mites, mold, pet dander and pollen from trees and plants.
You can have allergic rhinitis any season or all year round (ditto!).
It is inherited.
Natural ways to treat allergies – Dr. Berg
It’s difficult (impossible) to completely avoid potential allergens, but you can take steps to reduce exposure to a particular allergen you know or suspect is triggering your allergic rhinitis. This will help improve your symptoms. And if you can’t take it anymore, there are antihistamine medications that will help – just ask your doctor for prescription. My go-to medications are cetirizine, levocetirizine (antihistamines).
Sharing this prayer I’ve learned from Redemptorist church when I was young while joining Nanay (grandma) to her Wednesday devotions. Been praying this ever since.
Our Mother of Perpetual Help
we salute thee as the chosen queen of our home
we beseech thee by thy tender motherly love
to preserve its inmates from destructive fires and earthquakes,
Spoiler Alert: this post may contain dialogue or scenes from Extraordinary Attorney Woo episode 8.
This is such a beautiful episode and so it’s a must to share this in a separate post. Quoting the conversation and exchanges betweem the mom – Attorney Tae Sumi and daughter Attorney Young-woo and other touching dialogues. I’ll be focusing on the mushy side of relationships and family.
Source: IMDb
The case they are handling is a direct continuation of episode 7 – tale of Sodeok-dong. She discovered that her real mother is the famous and CEO of Taesan law firm. The touching revelation of how her dad made sacrifices and gave up his future for his daughter – Attorney Young-woo. We all adore Gwangho-shi as a selfless parent who can give up everything for his child.
Do you not recognize me?
– Young-woo
I feel sad for attorney Young-woo and her dad… We can’t deny the fact there are some parents like that, prioritizing herself before the child. It can be a true representation and bitter reality of homes where children are compromised.
I’m Woo Gwang-ho’s daughter…
Was reminded of a story about a woman who was already married but instead of leaving her child to the husband, she brought the child and escaped with another man. That woman was also highly ambitious like Tae Sumi, but poor guy wasn’t enough for her.
I wanted leave Hanbada. But recently, I found out who you are. So I don’t think I can work here (Taesan law firm).
– Young-Woo
In this episode you’ll see attorney Woo’s emotional side when she confronted her mom who abandoned her.
I was trying to leave Hanbada to be independent of my father and be a real adult.
But I can’t leave my dad, just to join my mother’s firm.
– Young-woo
The acting in this encounter is superb, paying attention to both Tae Su-mi and Attorney Woo’s. With opposite reactions as Young-woo has ASD while the mom is in shock.
Especially not when my mother gave birth to me but abandoned me. And doesn’t recognized me at all.
Even now.
Thank you for inviting me to join in Taesan, but I’m going to continue to work in Hanbada.
And I will stay by my father’s side.
– Young-woo
Maybe we can try to place ourselves in Tae Su-mi’s position, yes she has her reasons. But I was hoping she could at least try to reach out to her…
Do you resent me for what I’ve done?
– Tae Sumi
It was nice when we looked at the tree together on top of the hill in Sodeok-dong. I wanted to meet you at least once.
It was nice to meet you…
– Young-woo
Nothing is more heartwrenching. I mean it, nothing!!! Who else cried a bucket in this episode? (TT) Background music is equally sentimental and poignant. This episode ended with the scene from the tree in Sodoek-dong’s hill.
I can’t imagine how Young-woo must have felt to learn that the woman she was so fascinated with is actually her mother, but kudos to her for handling the situation maturely. This shows how well her dad raised her, full of love and sacrifices. Despite the mother’s absence and her disability, she turned out okay and very mature.
Studying Psychology shows you a myriad of complicated terms, endless name of disorders, personality types, etc. But let’s be practical here, everywhere you go there’s always a “toxic” person. They’re impossible to avoid, can give you negative feelings and worse affect your mental health.
But do you know that Toxic behavior is something that can manifest in us all?
We all have bad days but it is important to be aware of our actions and how they affect the people around us. “Self-awareness” – according to my professor and the author of best selling book Permission to feel – Marc Brackett, is the start of becoming an Emotional Scientist.
First, let us learn how to identify a toxic individual.
Being toxic is never fun to be around, you drive people away and usually encounter conflicts and misunderstandings. Keep in mind that these behaviors don’t happen overnight, it is developed through the years and has underlying causes or triggers like childhood trauma. They are actually unconscious and developed over time as their defense mechanism. Not an excuse though, that’s why we begin by realizing if our behavior is already hurting other people.
Ways not to be toxic.
1. Replace negative thoughts with positive ones
it all starts with your mind, your thoughts drive and guide how you behave.
Professor Marc Brackett said that our brain is hay wired to think negatively right away, it is our automatic way of thinking. This is not good for the body as it activates our limbic system.
Thinking positively takes time and lot of effort.
2. Be actively Grateful
When we practice gratitude, our feelings of accomplishment and satisfaction increase, and the feeling of burn-out decreases.
Toxic people are unhappy because they tend to look at the past and for them everything in their life is not good enough.
Take a few minutes everyday to be actively grateful. This could be anything from your pet, sunshine or good weather, family, or the roof above your head.
If you really want not to be toxic, know that acknowledging the good things in your life lets you focus on them and everything else seems brighter and happier.
3. Think before you react
build the habit of pausing before reacting.
toxic people are highly reactive, they tend to lash out on people around them.
this is the best time to practice being a better listener, so instead of reacting try to listen first.
being an active listener shows that you care.
4. Let your ego go
a toxic person is desperate to maintain a certain image to the point of attacking others, or being defensive and becoming a habitual liar.
they believe they’re entitled and people are beneath them.
accept that nobody’s perfect and that you’re not always correct.
kindness is free and without your ego this is easy.
5. Show accountability
this is related to ego, apologizing is like admitting defeat to a toxic person.
admitting you’ve made a mistake and taking responsibility makes it feel you’ve failed.
if you’re not able to be accountable for your own wrongdoing — if you dig in, and have to maintain your image — this is a big potential problem. For one, it’s a sign of narcissism.
it will be a struggle to maintain a real relationship to someone who can never ever accept fault. It makes other people uncomfortable, denies their emotions or needs, and leaves them feeling wronged too.
it becomes highly toxic when the objective of the story is to destroy other people and talk about their misfortunes.
don’t be too quick to judge others and then spread rumor about them.
try to know people first, listen, be kind and considerate.
7. Build others up, not test them
we all want to be with someone who celebrates with us. They are happy when you’ve achieved something instead of belittling.
this is related to gossiping, if we try to pinpoint the mistakes of other people.
real strength is when you uplift and motivate others instead of pulling them down.
8. Seek help
if you’re unsure about your own behaviour in certain aspects of life, that’s completely fine. It’ll probably best to act on it right away.
whether it’s consulting friends, family, a professional (like a therapist), there are ways to learn more about ourselves and help us improve these areas in our life.
toxic behavior doesn’t happen accidentally. It’s likely caused by something in your mind like unresolved issues and past trauma.
connecting with others is also a way of healing. Strong social ties are linked with happiness, longevity and health.
Reaching this point means you care about yourself as a person and open to growth and maturity. Don’t worry, being toxic is not forever, it’s not permanent.
“when you let go of who you are, you become who you might be.”
This new K-drama is so cute and heartwarming that I thought of writing a review after watching the first episode.
About a genius lawyer who has autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and IQ of 164 hence the title “extraordinary”. Starring Park Eun Bin, Kang Tae Oh and Kang Ki-young, talks about a story of everyday struggles of this extraordinary young lawyer.
This on-going dramedy (drama and comedy) is making network history according to Nielsen Korea, soared to its highest viewership rating yet on its fourth episode. Definitely binge-worthy and I applaude Park Eun Bin for her superb acting as the main role – Attorney Woo. I love every episode so far, it can make you cry, laugh and giggle.
It is also refreshing for me as a Psychology student to watch this beautiful drama portraying a disability in the most charming way possible.
It’s been a while since I posted something about endometriosis. I was diagnosed about a decade a go and yes that long!!! but I’ve been suffering with dysmenorrhea since the start of my menstrual age.
Time to time, I get tired sharing my experiences in social media that only a few friends can relate. Sufferers like me can get frustrated and hopeless in finding a definite cure. I’m friends with fellow “endowarrior” and I admire them for passionately posting their journeys in social media.
As it is reported that 1 out of 10 women is affected, more than 11% of women between ages 15-44, and common in women in their 30s to 40s which makes it hard for them to conceive.

“This is why one of the biggest symptoms of endometriosis is – chronic inflammation.” – Dr. Berg
Endometriosis is a long-term condition and considered to be a chronic illness. One of the most painful and debilitating diseases. Our battle cry – “It is not just a period pain!”
I tried a myriad of herbal supplements and I’ve had various medical procedures, many of which I vaguely remember. Then I came across Doctor Eric Berg and his videos are practical. Sharing his video/s about endometriosis and would probably post more about women’s health again soon…
My husband watches back to back this drama and D&P. I watch this one with him out of curiosity. Though a little late as this was released last 2019. With casts – Lee Jung Jae, Shin Min ah (my fave), Lee Elijah and so forth and available in Netflix and other streaming sites.
Talks about corruption, abuse, death, etc. I like the characters of Lee Jung Jae as Jang Tae Jun (main role), Assemblyman Lee who fights tirelessly for justice, Kang Sun Yeong (played by Shin Min Ah). This series is intense and has exciting twists, portraying a society with real issues, depicting how world of politics really work.
Being married to a civil servant, I can see my husband in the roles of some characters who remain steadfast and principled through and through.
Anyways… if you want drama with realistic plot then you got it here.
To stand out among hundreds of K-drama reviews, I’d like to skip the synopsis or plot of this series. It’s a melodrama full of metaphors, deep thoughts and musings.
Main leads are subtly but deeply connected and attracted to each other. Love that goes beyond physical contact, it’s thought-provoking.
You may find it slow and dragging at first, but as you get to know the three siblings especially Mi Jeong (Kim Ji-Won), her thoughts while commuting in and out of Seoul. These siblings are struggling with their own issues, money, huge debt, work, relationships, etc.
Written by ParkHae-young, and directed by Kim Suk-yoon, is relatable on many levels, the camaraderie between the co-workers, the after-work gossip, and the random ranting sessions. This drama connects with your consciousness and desires that you feel part of the story.
Mark 6:50
Yes, I believe we all have that desire to feel loved, or to Mi Jeong – be worshipped.
