C.S. Lewis quotable quotes

From the man behind Chronicles of Narnia – C. S. Lewis, a compilation of my favorite quotes.

Read and be inspired…

To love is to be vulnerable.

Miracles are retelling in small letters of the very same story which is written across the whole world in letters too large for some of us to see.

We would mind Humiliation less if we were humbler.

Children are not a distraction from more important work, they are the most important work.

It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.

integrity is doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

There are far better things ahead than any we leave behind.

What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truth, they share it.

We are what we believe we are.

You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.

Courage, Dear Heart.

Much love,

A letter to my daughter on her birthday

Dearest Baby girl,

Today is a very special day not just for you but also for me. On this day, I was blessed with a very beautiful baby. You may sometimes tease me when I get sappy, but what I’m feeling as your mom is best expressed with tears in my eyes for it is the finest feeling in the world. I’m so proud of you, maybe you already know that. And I want to be with you and see you in every milestone, every step, every dream you want to achieve. I will be here no matter what, I will be here as your confidant, as your art-buddy, as your adviser, as your mentor or math tutor, most especially I will be here as your mom – always and forever… I will give you all the love in the world, all the love I can give simply because you deserve it. You are such a wonderful being, a little timid, sensitive, compassionate, smart and an artist by heart. I would do everything I could so you can have a better life, better that what I had. The material is of least importance as we pass unto you the values and tradition we have received from our parents. These will guide you as go through life particularly on tough times. Always remember that God gives favor to those who love Him, believe and ask with your heart, God can hear you… just like when God heard me and gave me you…

happy birthday.

I love you,

forever, mom.

Script-ed

Recently, I began my interest on Calligraphy. I’ve always been fascinated with beautiful penmanship since the time I first learned how to write in cursive. Swirls and strokes, seem to be dancing gracefully across the paper. Script is my favorite style of handwriting.
So I purchased my tools on a local craft store and some online.

For pens or penbrushes there are famous brands like Zig (Kuretake), Copic, Tombow, Pentel and my favorite ones are mostly Japanese such as Pilot & Kuretake. Japan is renowned with their excellent craftsmanship and their calligraphy tools are the best for me.

I also collect journals and notebooks, a favorite of mine is from Moleskin their limited edition Le Petite Prince journal – so cute 🙂

With pointed pens, I still have a few, Japanese brand preppypens which is very affordable, then I got Noodler’s fountain pens with flexi nibs as a gift last Valentine. Other brands I got are Pelikano and Parker.

And with nibs and holders, I have to familiarize myself though. Sometimes I don’t like the idea of attaching nibs then dipping it into the ink every now and then. Arduous task, relaxing for some, for me maybe someday 😉

Here’s some photos of my modern calligraphy journey…
