Beauty & the Beast

Hi there, yes it’s been awhile. Took a break for healing and some contemplation. I never thought I’d make it this far… But let us not be mushy for I’m in my happy mood right now. We just watched Beauty and the Beast – yay! 🙂 my favorite princess of all time…

It was everything I expected, magical, romantic & even funny. And for a softee like me who cries even on the slightest melancholy, e.g when Beast died, yes so me… Okay, so the signature of any Disney fairytale is a happy ending. The grand ballroom scene was especially spectacular. They danced in celebration and I think Emma Watson (as Belle) was graceful. As the movie came to its finale, I asked my hubby wittily, “So do you see ‘us’ in the movie? Me, breaking the spell & lifting the curse…” and we had a great laugh 😀

So for everyone who have yet to see this movie, it’s really a must. My family enjoyed it a lot! Sharing my playlist of its OST (click on the link below).Plus, an artwork I created, hope you guys like it 🙂

I invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair and be my guest 😉

A letter to my daughter on her birthday

Dearest Baby girl,

Today is a very special day not just for you but also for me. On this day, I was blessed with a very beautiful baby. You may sometimes tease me when I get sappy, but what I’m feeling as your mom is best expressed with tears in my eyes for it is the finest feeling in the world. I’m so proud of you, maybe you already know that. And I want to be with you and see you in every milestone, every step, every dream you want to achieve. I will be here no matter what, I will be here as your confidant, as your art-buddy, as your adviser, as your mentor or math tutor, most especially I will be here as your mom – always and forever… I will give you all the love in the world, all the love I can give simply because you deserve it. You are such a wonderful being, a little timid, sensitive, compassionate, smart and an artist by heart. I would do everything I could so you can have a better life, better that what I had. The material is of least importance as we pass unto you the values and tradition we have received from our parents. These will guide you as go through life particularly on tough times. Always remember that God gives favor to those who love Him, believe and ask with your heart, God can hear you… just like when God heard me and gave me you…

happy birthday.

I love you,

forever, mom.

anyway

People are often unreasonable and self-centered.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat on you.
Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.

The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.
Give your best anyway.

For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

  • Mother Teresa

In our lifetime, we all experience pain, sufferings and sorrow. It used to give me a bitter outlook of the world that’s filled with heartaches. Both my partner and I encountered perfidious relationships from the past so when we met it was quite challenging. It was more hurtful for him because it involved his family. You will not know the exact meaning of pain until you’re cheated by someone you loved. And I believe it is the greatest tragedy of mankind.

People doubt, deceive, forget and are unkind…

There will always be a few, who would disagree and dislike. I don’t need to recount the myriad times I was judged and criticized, maybe all these are part of my “purification” I guess.

Having gone through a lot, lest we didn’t know God was there. He is always there… Until present day that I realized, all I need to do, all these time, I just need to talk to Him. to surrender,

“Lord… I do not trust my weakness, I can’t bear this pain, I can’t do this alone, I need You and I trust You… Your love for me is greater than anything else so I lift all these up to You…”

and it is only Him, who can judge, who can deliver, and can help us.

I’m glad I didn’t end up being bitter after all, there’s always a hint of hope inside of me. Perhaps, that is God’s grace over me…

When I lost my only brother this year, it was an awakening and it hurt so much because of a few regrets, I felt I could have done something before he died. The guilt being the eldest  and most able, forgiveness was not easy. As I thought I will not be able to recover, but I did. One of the countless blessings God has given me… I was healed, forgiven, heard and loved…

anyway.

Our Mother of Perpertual Help

The icon of Our Mother Perpetual Help is one of the most well known and loved images of Mama Mary. The original icon is enshrined in the Redemptorist Church of St. Alphonsus in Rome which I was fortunate to visit last 2009.  This June 27, 2016  will be it’s 150th Jubilee.

History can be traced back to year 1495, when this ancient image was enshrined in a church on the island of Crete in the Mediterranean sea. When the island was threatened by invaders, the icon was carried off, perhaps stolen, by a merchant who took it with him to Rome. This man upon arriving in Rome became severely ill. Before his death, he begged his friend to bring it to one of the churches in Rome so it can be publicly venerated. Upon his death however, the friend’s wife kept the painting in their home for several months. One night, the Lady appeared to the man in a dream & warned him not to keep the picture. Twice she appeared to him, and twice he disregarded the warning. The third time, She warned her that if he still disobeys he would die a miserable death. So the man tried to convince his wife to give up the painting, but she refused. Our Lady appeared to him for the last time and told him of his impending death, within a short time, he became sick and died.

Our Lady appeared to the man’s 6 year old daughter, telling her to tell her mother, “Holy Mother of Perpetual Help commands you to take her out of the house.” The mother, who saw the same vision, was terrified and was about to give the icon but her neighbor convinced her that she should not pay attention to just a dream. That night the neighbor became ill, realizing her fault, she made a solemn promise to the Lady and then was immediately cured. Again, the Lady manifested herself to the young girl, asked her to tell her mother to place her image in a church between St. Mary Major’s and St. John Lateran’s. That same day, March 27, 1499, the icon was delivered with a solemn procession to the church of St. Matthew the apostle. It was a quaint church and even before the image entered it’s walls, a paralyzed man was healed after the icon passed by his house.

For 300 years, this humble church where the miraculous icon was placed became a famous pilgrimage in Rome. But came the Napoleonic armies and overrun Italy, General Massena ordered the destruction of St. Matthew’s and other churches in Rome. The icon was saved by the Augustinian Order who was taking care of that church and hid it for the next 68 years.

 OLPH Perpetual Help

The church of St. Alphonsus was built near the site of St. Matthew’s by the Redemptorist Order. In 1866, Pope Pius IX ordered that the icon be given to Redemptorists and place it where the Lady has chosen it to be, in St. Alphonsus’ church. He also encouraged  – Mary under the title of – Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) make known to the world. They have successfully done this, that’s why there are many shrines of Our Mother of Perpetual Help throughout the world, and became shrines of great devotion and prayers.

One of the icons is located in Redemptorist church in Baclaran, where my devotion to Mama Mary has started. Every Wednesday there’s novena masses hourly, and prayers of devotees like myself has been heard many times and even to this day I continue to trust on the Perpetual Help from Our Mother…

Sacred Heart of Jesus

Month of June is dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. June 3 and June 4 mark the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. One of the greatest feasts in the Catholic Church. The feast celebrates and emphasizes God’s passionate love for His people.

The word heart, is a vital organ which is connected to a person’s physical, emotional and moral facets. And the Sacred Heart is a symbolic object of devotion to the Love of Jesus Christ.

As Pope Benedict XVI said, “In the heart of the Redeemer, we adore God’s love for humanity, His will for universal salvation, His infinite mercy. Practicing devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ, therefore, means adoring that Heart which, after having loved us to the end, was pierced by a spear and from high on the Cross poured out blood and water, an inexhaustible source of new life.”

I have grown my devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus not because of the many things I ask from Him, in my prayers I ask for His mercy and guidance, among others, which I know He would wholeheartedly give. I have found consolation from this devotion, with life’s day to day struggles and adversities there’s the Heart of Jesus where we can find comfort and peace.

Let me share to you all the prayer of Padre Pio to the Sacred Heart.

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

O Sacred Heart of Jesus,

filled with infinite love,

broken by my ingratitude,

pierced by my sins,

yet lovingly me still;

accept the consecration that I make to you

of all that I am

and all that I have.

Take every faculty of my soul and body

and draw me, day by day,

nearer and nearer to your Sacred Heart,

and there,

as I can understand the lesson,

teach me your blessed ways.

Amen

I carry your heart with me…

I carry your heart with me.

by E.E. Cummingsimg_20160214_204031.jpg

I carry your heart with me. I carry it in my heart.

I am never without it, anywhere I go you go, my dear;

and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling.

I fear no fate, for you are my fate, my sweet.

I want no world, for beautiful you are my world, my true.

and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant,

and whatever a sun will always sing is you.

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows

here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher

than the soul can hope or mind can hide.

and this is the wonder that is keeping the stars apart.

I carry your heart, I carry it in my heart…

Father’s Day

Father’s Day used to hold some rancor as I wasn’t blessed to have one I can praise and greet on this special day. It was impertinent and seemed like an ordinary day in our lives. But now seeing my daughter loved by her dad so dearly is a dream come true for me. It patched up the missing pieces of my childhood’s yearnings.
I’m blessed to have the best dad for my angel and to have God the Father who is above all is the source of these blessings and love.

Happy Father’s Day to all dads!

True Love

image

This is True Love.
Stories, tales and legends depict love in glorious ways but NO love is greater than this. None will ever be.
I believe Holy Week is Jesus dying in the cross and redeeming us. The cross which is a symbol of that ultimate Love.
We are loved, perfectly loved by someone who died for us…

image

And I wish to commemorate it not just today but everyday. I’m not posting this to preach, I’m no saint. But I’m hoping to remind everyone of this True Love.

and by His wounds we are healed

Isaiah 53:5

Blessed Holy Week to all.

Our Lady of Lourdes, France

image I have been to Europe a couple of times. Mainly as pilgrims particularly to this holy place in Lourdes, France. It is a small town in Pyrenees in southwest France. And the biggest pilgrimage destination in France and one of the most popular sanctuaries in the world. Pilgrims come here and drink or bath in the miraculous water that sprung during the apparition of the Virgin Mary to Saint Bernadette. Photo above shows the grotto and the exact location where Mama Mary was seen by the young visionary St. Bernadette. The last time I visited which was just last year, I was able to bathed in the healing waters, priorities are given to the sick and elderly. Courteous and helpful nuns are there to assist you. image I wish i have more photos to show but at that moment I was filled with joy. Besides, cameras are not allowed inside the cubicles. Everything is very organized, surpisingly the line wasn’t long. Then I entered one of the cubicles while draped in blankets provided by the assisting nuns. I wept as I was overwhelmed with gladness, I felt the presence of the Holy Spirit. And Mama Mary’s sacred image was there in the foot of the pool and kissed her after plunging in the water. I knew right then I was healed instantly… image
