this is my version of sweet (Pinoy) style spaghetti, for Filipinos we like our food to either be salty or sweet. Sounds unhealthy right, but it won’t matter until you taste our local cuisine and delectable dishes. When spaghetti was introduced to us, we added our secret ingredient – banana ketchup! yes, that adds the right amount of sweetness to the sauce. No formal schooling or training here, good cooking just comes out naturally. I’ve learned that if you have the right skills (from experiences) or gene-acquired talent plus good taste you can cook any dishes you want. And that reminds me of the movie Ratatouille – “Not everyone can be an artist, but an artist can come from anywhere…”
Father’s Day used to hold some rancor as I wasn’t blessed to have one I can praise and greet on this special day. It was impertinent and seemed like an ordinary day in our lives. But now seeing my daughter loved by her dad so dearly is a dream come true for me. It patched up the missing pieces of my childhood’s yearnings.
I’m blessed to have the best dad for my angel and to have God the Father who is above all is the source of these blessings and love.
I was introduced to the world of food way before I can remember. My grandmother who raised me up cooks the best homemade meals ever. And my classmates before would remember the yummy packed lunch prepped by my ‘ ‘Nanay’ (mother) dear. They were delighted as I share some with them. So now i have my own family, beloved recipes are passed down to me. And of course i have to tweak some ingredients and modernized the menus. The results are delicious, validated by full and happy tummies of my loved ones. I’m planning to post the recipes soon so please keep in touch.
My favorite theme to make in my shop is a Disney inspired customized treat. I made my first “Disney” custom cake which was for my daughter’s birthday, that was also the first time I applied some skills I learned from Wilton school of cake decorating. I finished their courses from basic sugar piping to the more advance fondant and gumpaste class. But, let’s go back to the treats… ofcourse, I didn’t begin as a pro, we all have to start somewhere and that means being an amateur. I was ambitious to create an edible slipper of Cinderella and handling fondant wasn’t that easy. Tropical climate plus high humidity make it more challenging. Yes, I successfully made one, but pardon the lack of photo for evidence. I must have carelessly deleted the photos from my old laptop.
So… I just have to show you my more recent creations. A favorite motif is Mickey Mouse, it’s commissioned a couple of times and even a wedding cake with Mickey and Minnie on it. And then, there’s Elsa and Anna, I was humming “Do you wanna build a snowman?” while finishing these sugar artworks. Plus, my daughter loves Frozen, too.
if you can dream it, you can do it.
