K-pop Beauty

I always wonder why Koreans seem to have the fairest, prettiest and nicest skin. In awe while watching Korean novelas on tv and surprised that even their male actors have luminous & fair skin. No, it must be more than genetics…. So I began my intensive study, first on their products and then their routine.

This is what I found out;

  • Almost all of their products contain natural ingredients like Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Green Tea, Fruit extracts, etc.

  • Moisturizers, creams or serums contain a natural & potent whitening ingredient called – Niacinamide

  • Beauty products for oily, acne-prone and problematic skin mostly have – Jeju Volcanic Clay – can only be found in Korea, which effectively clears enlarged pores, brightens skin tone and improves skin texture. It’s known as the ‘Super Volcanic Clay’ that’s been long used by Koreans to treat various skin conditions.

Jeju is a place in South Korea

  • Some uses Pearl powder, licorice and all the nice stuff on their products which help in maintaining fair and luminous skin

  • All products claim to be free of mineral oil, synthetic or artificial perfumes and animal originated ingredients – meaning animal cruelty free! yay!

I also talked about their 10-step routine from last post  → Korean Makeup ♥ you are welcome to read that, too! 🙂

that’s all for today, see you again my lovelies ♥

Self Confidence for All

Today, I felt the need to post something about – confidence or self esteem. Many of us had or have low self-esteem. It’s deeply rooted from painful childhood experiences, neglect, abuse, illness/debilitation, painful life events such as losing loved ones or a job, divorce, and the most common is discrimination.

As a daughter, grandchild, mother, sister and friend, my dream is to empower people most especially women and young ones and help them boost their self confidence. Yes it’s not easy, I know. I’ve seen enough death in my family, my granddad who was like a father to me died in a car accident when I was very young, sudden passing of my younger brother then my father. And to add discrimination and scrutiny on the side. The negative early events later on become contributors to Low Self Esteem.

I’m no expert but I’m talking based on experience. It’s never too late to believe, to stand up and it all starts with forgiveness. To let go of these thoughts, forgive yourself and always remember that there’s always another chance. New hope.
Think positive. Instead of saying, “I’m a loser” or “no one really likes me” why don’t you talk to yourself and be your first and only effective motivator and coach – “You can do this!”

Positivity leads to positive outcomes.

Smile, laugh and surround yourself with happy and positive people. You’ll feel better as go through the process. They say faking confidence can help, and that’s true. I’ve tried that many times, put your chin up, dress up, use accessories or wear makeup just to elevate self confidence.

When you look better, you will feel better.

And it may take time and effort. But trust me, I’ve been there and it will all be worth it…

Sun Protection

It’s smoldering hot here in the Philippines and the perfect time to post about sun protection is yes right now 🙂

I’ve read many medical articles emphasizing the need for sun protection and prompted by increasing cases of various skin conditions particularly skin cancer. Though Filipinos are mostly melanin-rich and brown colored skin, that doesn’t mean we can skip slathering our exposed bodies with sun creams. In my case, I have a lot of skin issues going on, allergies, skin asthma, etc. and with my fair/medium skin – sun protection is a must!

So we often hear SPF – What is SPF?

SPF stands for sun protection factor. The SPF number tells you how well the product will protect you from UVB, the burning rays of the sun. (Most sunscreens also absorb ultraviolet “A” rays, or UVA.) The higher the SPF number, the greater the amount of protection. Everyone should use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If you have had a skin cancer or precancer, you should use a sunscreen with an even higher SPF.

Studies showed that the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes, pretty scary right? It was mentioned in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and featured in their blog – “sun-safety”.  As UV rays account for 80% of skin ageing. That includes, wrinkles, sun spots or skin pigmentation. Besides, who likes to have premature wrinkles? I don’t 😉

Maybe I’ve already convinced you enough and please always remember “prevention is better than cure. “

Lead me Lord (lyrics)

my art tribute

Lead me Lord

Lead me Lord, lead me by the hand
and let me face the rising sun.
Comfort me through all the pain
that life may bring.
There’s no other hope that I can lean upon.
Lead me Lord, lead me all my life.
Walk by me,
walk by me across the lonely road that I may face
take my arms and let your hand
show me the way.
Show the way to live inside your heart,
all my days, all my life.
(chorus)
You are my light,
you’re the lamp upon my feet.
All the time my Lord, I need You there.
You are my life, I cannot live alone.
Let me stay by guiding your life.
All through my life,
lead me Lord…
Lead me Lord, even though at times
I’d rather go alone my way
help me take the right direction, take your road.
Lead me Lord and never leave my side
All my days,
all my life.

Beauty in a budget

Like most ladies I know, using products that delivers excellent results without leaving a dent in our wallets is something dear to our hearts.

That’s why an online boutique recently opened and offers a selection of inexpensive brands which are made from natural ingredients and paraben-free. Both qualities I look for especially for products I use daily.

Aside from selling inexpensive but good quality products, this site helps encourage an advocacy for Oriental brands particularly from the Philippines, Korea and Japan.

They have a range of pretty eye shadows, lipsticks and effective skin care that you can build a collection, maintain or enhance beauty/wellness without spending a fortune!

Shop is for Philippine customers only 🙂 Posh Online Boutique

Korean Makeup

2 years ago when I discovered Korean makeup and skin care product thru a friend of mine who’s been using it and swears by it. And yasss she is right! Their products are simple but straightforward. The packaging is cute with comical cartoons and very fun designs. Special mention – Korean Skin Care which is by far the most comprehensive and thorough.

With it’s famous 10-step program or routine that can be adjusted according to your skin type. The following is the 10-step routine;

  1. makeup remover / oil cleanser

  2. water based cleanser

  3. exfoliation

  4. toner

  5. essence

  6. serum, booster or ampouls

  7. masks

  8. eye cream

  9. moisturizer

  10. sun protection (day time)

Even typing this program is exhilarating, but really they have the best (for me) beauty products and is less expensive than Western counterparts. What I like the most – it is made from natural ingredients and free from Parabens.

that’s it for today, see you next post 🙂
