Why you should try Sheet Masks

The genius of Korean Beauty (K-Beauty) – sheet mask sensation is the latest in skincare. Became widely popular that even western beauty companies had to quickly conform.

So why try one?

1. It’s life-changing.

While Koreans use sheet masks as part of their Korean 10-step program, we Pinays are relatively new to this trend. And now we’d see our fave K-pop stars wearing one with goofy & candid selfies. And as loyal fans, we might as well take the habit like our idols 😉

One of the biggest benefits of Face Sheet Mask is that it delivers product deep into the skin in a concentrated way. It’s conveniently applying product with occlusion (cover) to penetrate deeply into the skin. Mud masks or other creams when applied directly in skin evaporates rapidly leaving very little to absorb in our deprived skin. So having a cover in sheet masks, the skin transforming ingredients seep into the skin like magic.

Thus providing instant effects in regards to skin’s moisture, elasticity, pre-mature aging and pore care.

2. It’s affordable!

I know most of us are money savvy but masks are actually much affordable!

It’s an inexpensive way to treat yourself than spending thousands on facials.

3. It’s relaxing…

😉 The best way to pamper yourself without breaking the bank. All it takes is 20 minutes and you can listen to Spotify, watch GOT, meditate, or read a book while on mask!

Why not? For sheet mask as low as P30 you can enjoy this trend at the comfort of your own home ❤️

How to look lovely when you’re always in a hurry

I’m following this beauty guru in YouTube for years now – Wayne Goss. This expert knows what he’s talking about. He makes videos and known for his brief, effective and practical beauty hacks and makeup lessons. Goss makes everything simple, a basic eyeshadow trick for even the laziest girls. Much of what I’ve learned are from him and from a few other famous personalities in the web.

Yes there’s hope,

💕

I’m sharing some useful tips for us Pinays who are always nagmamadali or always on the go.

💕

Tip #1 – Choose products wisely

Select products that will help you achieve that wow look in no time, like BB creams or tinted moisturizers. Skipping a few steps in our daily struggle is crucial. After skincare, apply a fair amount of BB cream/tinted moisturizer. You’ll be surprised, they’re so easy to apply and blend compared to liquid or cream foundations as your base.

Tip #2 – Kilay is Life (eyebrow is life)

Haha, but yes it is. Eyebrow is huge nowadays. I can’t imagine myself going out with no eyebrows or my brows in halves, shameless! Don’t fret my loves, there’s a ton of brow products in the market right now for as low as P100. Make sure to pick the one that’s long wearing and with spooly/brush.

Tip #3 – Eye makeup in a flash

I actually skip this step most of the time since I’m wearing my glasses. But, when certain occasions demand a quick eye makeup, I’ve got an arsenal of products that’s highly recommended. Stick eyeshadow is heaven sent and will give you the fastest eye makeup imaginable. Yes, in less than a minute for me 😉 Just swipe and blend with your fingers, easy peasy! Apply liner or mascara as desired and voila pretty eyes.

Tip #4 – Crush blush

Flaunt your cheeks baby. Yes, rosy and plump cheeks is a sign of youth and vitality. And like what I’ve learned from Goss, you can use the same blush to subtly contour your face by applying it in the high points of your face. For that youthful and lovely sun kissed glow.

Tip #4 – Lipstick finale

This is no doubt a no-brainer trick, when it comes to appearing put up in an instant, lipstick is the key. One swipe and you’re good to go. Choose moisturizing lipsticks over drying matte ones if you like to avoid putting on lip balm.

Hope these help, till next post.

Tips for fighting Oily Summer Skin

During hot summer days, our skin tends to be more greasy, problematic and attention-seeking. Yes, it was one of my greatest concern too!

Makeup lasts a few hours till we notice that our foundation is breaking apart, melting down and that eeww feeling as we watch in horror how our investment on makeup is going to waste.

Lo and behold, I have my tried and tested tips for Oily Summer Skin.

get-rid-of-oily-skin-on-face

Lo and behold, I have my tried and tested tips for Oily Summer Skin.

  • Tip #1 – Use Moisturizer! stick with oil-free types.

And it may be helpful to opt for products that are specifically made for oily, acne prone skin. If we don’t moisturize our skin becomes thirsty, it will then produce more oil and the sebaceous glands will be crazi-er.

  • Tip #2 – Apply Sunblock.

My holy grail product next to moisturizer is sunblock or sun creams. Don’t skip applying a teaspoon-amount on your face just because it’s cloudy. Most harmful rays still get through those clouds and hurt your beautiful skin. Study also suggests that sunblock helps control oil and shine.

  • Tip #3 – Choose BB creams or Tinted Moisturizers.

Wearing cream foundation is heavy on skin and may even block pores which may lead to more skin problems like blackheads or acne.

  • Tip #4 – Exfoliate.

It won’t be part of Korean’s 10-step skin routine for nothin’. Exfoliating at least two times a week is the way to have smooth, clear, & oil-free skin!

  • Tip #5 – Detoxify with Masks.

I have a few recommendations; try masks with Green tea like this budget-friendly mask from Baroness, a popular Korean brand. Or a vitamin enriched one like Baroness Vitamin C mask. They also have Aloe Vera to soothe tired/sensitive skin, & Collagen Masks for anti-aging. Other Korean brands like Innisfree, The Faceshop and Petitfee have fruit infused masks to revitalize and deep cleansed the skin.

These masks will do wonders on your skin while you relax 🙂

K-pop Beauty

I always wonder why Koreans seem to have the fairest, prettiest and nicest skin. In awe while watching Korean novelas on tv and surprised that even their male actors have luminous & fair skin. No, it must be more than genetics…. So I began my intensive study, first on their products and then their routine.

This is what I found out;

  • Almost all of their products contain natural ingredients like Aloe Vera, Chamomile, Green Tea, Fruit extracts, etc.

  • Moisturizers, creams or serums contain a natural & potent whitening ingredient called – Niacinamide

  • Beauty products for oily, acne-prone and problematic skin mostly have – Jeju Volcanic Clay – can only be found in Korea, which effectively clears enlarged pores, brightens skin tone and improves skin texture. It’s known as the ‘Super Volcanic Clay’ that’s been long used by Koreans to treat various skin conditions.

Jeju is a place in South Korea

  • Some uses Pearl powder, licorice and all the nice stuff on their products which help in maintaining fair and luminous skin

  • All products claim to be free of mineral oil, synthetic or artificial perfumes and animal originated ingredients – meaning animal cruelty free! yay!

I also talked about their 10-step routine from last post  → Korean Makeup ♥ you are welcome to read that, too! 🙂

that’s all for today, see you again my lovelies ♥

Sun Protection

It’s smoldering hot here in the Philippines and the perfect time to post about sun protection is yes right now 🙂

I’ve read many medical articles emphasizing the need for sun protection and prompted by increasing cases of various skin conditions particularly skin cancer. Though Filipinos are mostly melanin-rich and brown colored skin, that doesn’t mean we can skip slathering our exposed bodies with sun creams. In my case, I have a lot of skin issues going on, allergies, skin asthma, etc. and with my fair/medium skin – sun protection is a must!

So we often hear SPF – What is SPF?

SPF stands for sun protection factor. The SPF number tells you how well the product will protect you from UVB, the burning rays of the sun. (Most sunscreens also absorb ultraviolet “A” rays, or UVA.) The higher the SPF number, the greater the amount of protection. Everyone should use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. If you have had a skin cancer or precancer, you should use a sunscreen with an even higher SPF.

Studies showed that the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can damage your skin in as little as 15 minutes, pretty scary right? It was mentioned in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and featured in their blog – “sun-safety”.  As UV rays account for 80% of skin ageing. That includes, wrinkles, sun spots or skin pigmentation. Besides, who likes to have premature wrinkles? I don’t 😉

Maybe I’ve already convinced you enough and please always remember “prevention is better than cure. “

Korean Makeup

2 years ago when I discovered Korean makeup and skin care product thru a friend of mine who’s been using it and swears by it. And yasss she is right! Their products are simple but straightforward. The packaging is cute with comical cartoons and very fun designs. Special mention – Korean Skin Care which is by far the most comprehensive and thorough.

With it’s famous 10-step program or routine that can be adjusted according to your skin type. The following is the 10-step routine;

  1. makeup remover / oil cleanser

  2. water based cleanser

  3. exfoliation

  4. toner

  5. essence

  6. serum, booster or ampouls

  7. masks

  8. eye cream

  9. moisturizer

  10. sun protection (day time)

Even typing this program is exhilarating, but really they have the best (for me) beauty products and is less expensive than Western counterparts. What I like the most – it is made from natural ingredients and free from Parabens.

that’s it for today, see you next post 🙂
